How QR codes work in Pure camera app

Every profile has a unique QR code. It’s generated via Core Image on the device and can be scanned by any device with a camera.

The purpose of the QR code, drawn as rounded dots and capsules with the profile photo in the center, is to let people connect with someone they actually know. Pure is all about connecting with people you actually know. Every in-person scan is a testament of a real connection.

What does a profile QR code do?

One sentence. A QR scan takes the person to that profile so they can easily connect.

What you see. The profile that belongs to the code: the photo and the name. Nothing from the camera roll, and no messages.

What you can do. Add that person as a friend. If a request is already out, or you all are already friends, the code shows that instead of asking again.

What it does not do. It does not post, send a message, or connect two strangers. The scan only works as a connection because the two people are there together.

When you scan someone’s QR code, from any device or any camera, it opens https://purecamera.app/@username, their unique space. Pure connects to that username, so in the app you can send the friend request directly to their profile.

How does someone open a profile from it?

All you have to do is scan the QR code. This can be from any device. If Pure is on that phone, the app opens their profile so you can add them. If Pure is not installed, their profile opens in the browser.

Why is the code on the profile home?

Pure keeps the QR code in close reach. It is understood the application is commonly used when you are on the go. You never know when you will want to connect with someone. The shareable QR code is always ready and loaded for you to connect.

Pure values real, genuine relationships above all else. It is the job of the application to support that experience for you. It's why Pure does not have social media. Pure provides the cutting-edge features of the big social media companies (such as a seamless QR connection) without the brainrot (such as forcing suggested users you don't know onto you).

Questions

What is encoded in the code?

The code holds https://purecamera.app/@username, that person’s profile link.

Does scanning it post anything?

No. A scan only opens their profile, and nothing is posted.
