How friend search works in Pure camera app
Pure: Gallery & Messaging has been very intentional in designing profile discovery. It is a core value to encourage genuine connections. One place this shows up is in the search bar. Finding friends is not like your typical application.
In Pure, profiles are hidden by default. You’d have to know a user’s exact @ or phone number, or have a link they shared, to find them.
This enforces privacy and limits the chance of a person you do not know finding you.
What can you type in the search bar?
You will notice, when first typing in the search bar, there are not many results. To find your real friends, search their handle (the @) or enter their phone number.
If you don’t know either, reach out to them!
Why are profiles hidden by default?
It is by design that you do not have friends in Pure you do not know in real life. Pure is a tool that serves your existing friendships. It is not made to find new friends. It’s made to build on the relationships you already have!
This is a contrary approach to the large social media companies, which profit from you spending time on people you do not know.
In Pure, you interact with the people who genuinely care about you, not those posting their latest flex.
What if you have a link instead?
Links from a QR code or a profile share are a great way to connect with the person who shared them with you. You can also share a friend’s profile URL. These are great ways to connect with friends.
So give it a try! Search for a friend by their handle or phone number to find them.
